Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (Post-Game Transcript)

On how momentum was lost in the second half:

“Yeah, I mean turnovers play a huge factor in a game, especially playing a good team like Philly. You can’t give those guys extra possessions.”

On what he and the team can take from this season:

“Man, it sucks. Man, it just sucks. Excuse my language, but I couldn’t be prouder of the guys in the locker room. You know, just year one, everybody not really knowing each other, rookies, the vets did a tremendous job of bringing us in and helping us out. And we all just meshed. And we got to this point, but at the end of the day, man, we lost. It sucks, but we’ll move on from this.”

On the team’s confidence level throughout the game:

“We believe that we belong here. Kudos to Philly and what they did. Heck of a team, and good luck to them.”

On the feeling in the locker room:

“Just [savor] these moments with the people in the locker room. You know, every year, every locker room is different. So, you know, we earned the right to be here, it just sucks.”

On whether there is a sense of motivation with him and his teammates that might be back next year:

“For sure. I don’t want to have a feeling like this again. But you have to deal with it. You know, move on from it.”

On if he learned anything about himself during the season:

“I couldn’t even tell you right now. I’d have to think about that.”

On being in so many big games (collegiate and NFL) and on how much that helps him throughout this process in terms of seeing what they present to you:

“It’s just another game for me. That’s how I treated it. That’s how I treat every game. You have to go out there and earn it. You have to prove it. And even though tonight, we didn’t earn it.”

On the post-game locker room and veterans like Commanders LB Bobby Wagner and WR Terry McLaurin consoling guys:

“Yeah I mean, obviously it’s tough. Obviously, [we’re] taking this loss pretty hard, but having those guys around and be able to just uplift other individuals in the locker room. I appreciate them a lot.”

On what is transferable from this season to next season:

“Man, just the culture that [Commanders head coach Dan Quinn] and [Commanders general manager] Adam [Peters] set here. We know the standard. And locker room next year, we’re obviously going to have new guys come in and stuff like that. So, we have to teach them the standard and uphold it to that.”
