Eagles QB Tanner McKee (Post-Game Transcript)

On the kind of tweaks, if any, they made to the offense from last week to this week:

“When you go throughout a season, you’re always making tweaks, you’re always making changes. I feel like you’re finding identity. This happens every year. You find your identity, you mold into what you do well. I would say it was the natural flow of our offense. Honestly, I thought our coaches did a good job putting a good game plan together.”

On what clicked on the opening drive of the third quarter:

“I think it was just good execution. [Eagles Offensive Coordinator] Sean [Mannion] called good plays and we were executing good plays. That’s the standard, honestly, that we have for ourselves every time we step on the field is to have sustained drives like that, to execute on plays like that. I think we had a couple third-down conversions and a fourth-down conversion. That’s the standard that we have for ourselves. We were able to, for that drive, play to our standard.”

On how Eagles WR Makai Lemon stepped up with Eagles WR Dontayvion Wicks inactive:

“[Eagles WR] Makai [Lemon’s] a great player. He’s a gritty player. He’s a tough player. He can make people miss with the ball in his hands. He can run people over and he has great hands. That touchdown pass that he caught was a little bit behind him. They had a whole player that was coming across the middle, so I wanted to throw it to his body. It was a little more outside his frame than I wanted it, and he made a great grab. I just think he’s a really good player.”

On the plays he would prefer to have back and what he may need to work on:

“Yeah. Have that one back, obviously I wish I had the interception back. Great play by [Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown]. I think it was number zero that made that play. Obviously, I just got to move on in my reading and my progression. Then the two missed throws before halftime, wish I had those back. Good routes, good calls during good coverage and I’ve got to hit it.”

On whether he feels like he was rushed on the two missed throws before halftime:

“No, I don’t think I have an excuse. I just got to hit it. Next time when it comes up, I will. [I] told the guys that we’re going to make that play and we’re going to come back. That was the response coming back in that third quarter, that drive. But all the guys had no doubt that we were going to come out and do that. That’s just solely on me.”

On taking over as the starter for team in their situation:

“I think you have a standard for yourself and you have an expectation for yourself. Every time you step on the field, I say for yourself, for yourself, but also as an offense and as a team, every time you step on the field. You want to play to that standard and execute that way. We practice really hard, our meetings are tough and we want to make practice harder than the games. I think we need to tweak it up even more, which we will and obviously we’ll make corrections, we’ll watch the film and we’ll get better from it.”

On whether or not he learned anything from his previous start entering today:

“Obviously, I would say experience is good. I feel like each week you learn things and so it’s another week to learn. You hate having to lose a game to learn lessons, but I think [Eagles QB] Jalen [Hurts] said it, you either win or you learn. You never want to waste a game, win or lose, on an opportunity to learn. That’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to go, we’re going to watch the tape, figure out what we need to fix, and we’re going to get it fixed.”

On Eagles RB Saquon Barkley playing while injured:

“Saquon’s a dog, he’s a leader, he’s a competitor. He will do anything that he can to help this team, to lead this team. He’s a huge part of our offense, of the Eagles organization and he’s a heck of a player and a heck of a competitor. There comes a point in the season where a lot of guys are dealing with things and you just have to fight through it. He’s one of those guys that’s not going to, he’s going to come out and compete.”

On Eagles QB Joe Milton quickly being elevated from the practice squad:

“Joe’s been great. He has learned the offense really quickly, has a very strong arm, and was talking to him throughout the week about different things that he saw in training camp or whatever that was. Just trying to learn the ins and outs of what the Cowboys have been doing in practice. I think he’s a great player. Super excited to have him in the room.”
