Rams QB Matthew Stafford (Post-Game Transcript)

On takeaways from the game:

“Good battle, obviously good football team across the way. Had our chances, really in all phases, to win that one and didn’t get it done, which is frustrating. But got to go look at the tape, find ways to be better. There’s definitely plays [left] out there. I know myself, first and foremost, that I can be better, just physically throwing the ball. So I trust myself to go out there and do that, and we like where we’re at.”

On coming up short again following their playoff loss last season:

“Yeah, I mean obviously had the chance at the end of the game. I don’t think we were thinking about last year at all, to be honest with you. Just in the moment in this game, they had a chance, drove down, and they did a nice job on special teams two times there in the fourth [quarter]. So there’s so many plays throughout the game that can affect it. Obviously you don’t want to start the game with the turnover like I did. I think, like I said, some physical throws that I would love to have back early in the game and on third down so I can be better for sure.”

On the hit he took at the end of the game:

“I think you know what happened there. You can go check the tape. No, I got kneed where you don’t want to get kneed and so I was just taking a moment for myself to figure that one out, but I’m good.”

On the team’s struggles to finish drives:

“Well you got to look at each one. I thought we punched the one in and obviously had the penalty that was – I don’t know, I got to go look at it and see it. Unfortunately to go from touchdown to third-and-11 from the 11, that’s difficult. Obviously that one was tough. I think depending on where you guys start your red zone, we were down there pretty close another time on a third down. I miss [Rams WR] Davante [Adams] on just like an easy pitch and catch. I mean there were just a couple throws on third down I want back that extend drives and help you get points and that’s what it’s about in this league. So I didn’t do a good enough job of that.”

On his thought process being up 26-7:

“I mean, we’ve all been a part of enough NFL games that the scoreboard doesn’t really matter until the end of the game. I mean it doesn’t matter. You just go out there and play. You try to execute, you try to score as many points as you can on offense. You try to stop them every time you get out there on defense, I don’t care what the board says. Obviously we had our chance at the end of the game and it didn’t go our way. Learned from it. There’s so many other plays in this game, like I said earlier, that we can learn from and that we can be better. First and foremost, I was disappointed with how I threw it in some instances today. So just go back to it, continue to work hard, and know that what you’re doing and the process that we’re doing is the right thing and find ways to win games.”

On what he wants to see from the team following the game:

“Yeah, I have no questions or concerns about how we’ll respond. A bunch of guys that care about each other, care about doing the stuff the right way. Understand that our processes trust that process that we have week in and week out going to work, come with the same mindset whether we won this game or lost this game, we got another one next week. Big time opponent and got to be ready to go.”

On if he felt the Eagles took a different approach on third down:

“No, just physical. Just physical for me.”
